To whom it may concern:

The Seniors Property Tax Deferral Program (SPTDP) was introduced in April 2013 to help eligible senior homeowners to defer all or part of their annual residential property taxes through a low-interest home equity loan with the Government of Alberta.

To date, SPTDP has partnered with the Alberta Treasury Branch (ATB) to administer loans and disburse property tax payments directly to municipalities.  Please be advised that effective April 1, 2018, these activities will now be overseen by Alberta Seniors and Housing.  To effectively disburse SPTDP payments to your municipality on behalf of eligible senior households, we require your direct deposit information.

Providing your direct deposit information will allow SPTDP to combine payments for multiple households into one convenient direct deposit.  With a direct deposit, the municipality will also receive a report detailing the property tax payment amounts for each household.

Please complete the attached direct deposit form by February 1, 2018 and return by fax to 780-644-1810 or email to sptdadmin@gov.ab.ca.

For additional information regarding this change, please contact Angela Lippolt, Manager, Loan Programs, toll free by dialing 310-000 and entering 780-415-1371 (or in the Edmonton area 780-415-1371).
